We
want you to know Sean as he was growing up, not just in the
last days of his all too-short life. To that end these are
recollections of a Sean leading up to that fateful day in
May, 1999, as he is remembered by his family and friends.
We hope you will love him as we did, as a very energetic,
outgoing young man, with a sense of humor far surpassing his
tender age.

This first is from his father. "What his eulogy does
not say though, is that he also had a great sense of humor.
For instance, his sister waited until she was 18 before
getting her drivers license. On her inaugural drive, Sean
quietly climbed into the back seat wearing his crash helmet.
Heather went ballistic so he had to remove it, but everyone
else thought it was funny."
"Another
anecdote regarding Sean involves a long sleeve white shirt,
dress pants and matching sportcoat that I had bought him
prior to the Christmas 1998 Caribbean cruise. Although he
occasionally wore the shirt and slacks, he steadfastly refused
to wear the sportcoat.
A few months later, just before he became 11, I saw him
digging a hole with his camping shovel. After a while, he
summoned me from the house to show me his work. With a big
grin on his face, he motioned that he had neatly folded
and placed his sportcoat in the bottom of his hole. He had
no intention of burying it, this was just a manifestation
of his sense of humor."
"In
earlier days, he enjoyed school and had an excellent vocabulary
that was noticed in a first grade IQ test, and by his second
grade teacher. While doing a lesson on rain forests, the
teacher asked for descriptions. Sean offered the word, 'lush',
and was told he had the best vocabulary in class. Later
he would routinely use words such as, 'ruse' and 'precisely'."
